David Deusner has been a movie buff since he was a kid and his parents started Deusner Movie Night. One night a week, his parents either took the family to the movies or they would rent a movie and watch it at home. It was everyone’s favorite night of the week.
As a young boy, David Deusner always had a lot of energy. While most of the time that was a good thing, there were definitely times when he was a bit of a handful and his parents just needed a break. They knew they needed to find something to hold his attention, so they came up with movie night. One night each week, David’s parents would load the kids in the car and they would either go to the theater or the nearest video store and movies. It something they did quite often and soon became a favorite tradition of David and his family.
David liked it most when they went to see comedies. He loved to laugh and he loved how comedies made everyone feel so good afterward. Some of his favorite comedies were:
- Summer Rental
- Ghostbusters
- Ferris Bueller’s Day off
- Vacation
David also liked action and adventures too because they were so exciting. He would even sit through a good drama every now and then. The classics that David still like today are:
- Star Wars
- E.T.
- The Terminator
- Die Hard
It did not matter what movie they were watching, David enjoyed getting lost in the storyline and feeling whatever the actors were feeling. But, the best part of the Deusner Family Movie Night, was the after show David would put on for his family. Whenever they saw a movie, good or bad, David would act out his favorite parts of the movie for his family. Most of the time they would all end up laughing and encouraging him to do more, which was alright with him, because David enjoyed making his family laugh. Before long the game took on a life of its own, his family would watch him act out different scenes or imitate certain characters in the movie and then they would rate him on how well he did. It was their own version of Rotten Tomatoes. Even now these memories are some of David’s favorite.
Still a movie buff today, David has started his own Deusner Family Movie Night, and yes, he still likes to act out his favorite parts to make his family laugh.
